Reunion Weekend

The first of the adventures of the season is a trip to Chambersburg, PA for the 45th Reunion of the Class of 1970. This was a solo trip by Carole. We were a bit of a renegade class and judging from those who have returned still are. Our numbers are a bit diminished this year since a number are traveling elsewhere (retirees are wont to do that), many are waiting til the 50th to return and some are still grieving over the fact that our beloved alma mater has gone coed.

Started out early Friday to do some research in the Franklin County Historical Society. There are two years in my great great grandfather's life that are a void except knowing that he was in Chambersburg. Surely, they would have church records here. But, alas, nothing was very helpful. After reading the history of the 2 prominent German churches in 1836-7, I do have a theory about his role in the religious community here.

On to the hotel to meet friends and a great time in the hospitality room! There would be some wine drinkers in our numbers. A number of us went back to our old college haunt, The Copper Kettle, for a delicious dinner and some more wine.
Saturday started with a talk by the President of the college on the last year's high points. A few got up early to hear her. President Mystick gave a presentation that was an attempt to mollify the alumnae who are still upset ith the coed deciion. At the meeting of the Wilson College Alumnae Association that folloowed i was elected to a three year term on the Board of Directors. I am excited to be able to serve this transitional time.

Then it was on to the Lenfest Center for the parade of classes, luncheon, and the singing of our Alma Mater that always brings a tear to the eye. Finally, the class picture.

Saturday night was the Class Dinner and more conviviality, even with some husbnds who came along. Late night chatting and bonding friendhips.
Sunday of Reunion Weekend is always a moving experience the community celebrates the lives of those who hve died in the past year. As the name of each alumna is called a daisy is placed in a blue W.
A walk aound campus reflecting on how Wilson College shaped my life rounded out the weekend before my first board meeting and a drive home.

Pleasnt ride home listening to the Pirates beat the Atlanta Braves.
