We will be at sea for the next two days so a bit of some leisure time. The day dawned very early and we got up a little bit later than our usual 6:15 am. We had not anticipated what was in store for us today. Early in the morning 3 National Park Rangers boarded the ship and were to provide the commentary for our trip through Glacier Bay National Park. It was quite cold and we needed a bit more protection from the wind and cold than our sweaters, so I finally cut the tags off the jacket that I had bought earlier in the cruise. It was about 40 degrees, but the wind was bitter. We spent most of the morning and early afternoon on the decks, moving about to catch the best views of all the glaciers.
The movement of the glaciers, their expanse, and the way they move would provide much fodder for an Earth Science class. I guess I should have paid more attention in school and to Mrs. Quinn at SHCS. Each glacier has its own "personality" and appearance.
We saw 3 glaciers up close and the vistas were breath taking. How many more superatlves can I use?
I will have quite a time weeding out the pictures in the weeks when I return home. Sharon and Earle have taken as many, if not more than I.
Back inside around 4 for some down time and a check on the Pirates game. Another 3-2 win!
Dinner was elegant and delicious. We started with escargot. a Caesar's salad or tomato basil soup and the lobster tail or Beef Wellington for us.
Off to a show featuring The British Invasion. It was entertaining and fun. The wind and air wore us out so it was a fairly early bed time.
